Use “pre-information” for tests.
利用考试“预提示”
Surprising as it may be, most professors would like their students to succeed on exams. That’s why they give out lots of information in advance of the test: study questions, old exams, or sample problems – or in some cases extra office hours in which they tip their hand about what’s “likely” to show up on the test. Your study time can be focused – and much shorter – if you use these clues.
不管你信不信，绝大多数教授都是希望自己的学生能够顺利通过考试的。这也是他们会在考试前放出大量信息的原因：学习知识点、曾经的测验或者例题——或者某些情况下，他们会在额外的答疑时间“指点迷津”，提示你哪些内容“很可能”出现在考试中。如果你能正确运用这些提示，你的学习时间可以迅速浓缩提速。
The review session (common in many large lower-division or introductory courses) is a gift – especially if the professor has just made up the final or if the review is being conducted by a TA who feels especially sympathetic to the students. Be sure to write down, in the best case word-for-word, any “possible” questions that are revealed. Then go home and study them.
复习课（常见于大统未细分或介绍入门的课程中）是份厚礼——特别是在教授刚刚提交期末试卷后，或是向来同情学生的助教来主讲。切记做好记录，甚至一字不落，任何“可能的”题目都可能出现。然后回家好好学习。
Go for help early.
“求救”要趁早
Students often waste loads of time by successively trying out different paper topics or by not fixing on a thesis for the one paper topic they do. If your thinking is diffuse or scattered, go see the professor to get help in picking a topic or in narrowing down your idea. If you work on your own for two weeks, only to find that you’ve started on a bad track or have nothing good to say about the topic, you’ve wasted two weeks – which is a lot of time at the end of the semester.
学生们总是在课题选择上摇摆不定或是不能决定哪篇论文更适合主题，从而浪费大量时间。与其自我纠结，不如在你觉得迷茫惘然时速度去找教授帮助你选择课题或者起码缩小范围。如果你自行解决两周而未果，却只是发现自己走上了不归路或者对话题无语凝噎，那你就白白浪费了两周时间——这两周的时间对于期末阶段来说可是巨大的财富啊。
If you’re doing a research paper and find yourself with dozens of sources, none of which really addresses the question you’re answering, go see the professor or a research librarian in the field you’re studying. Even the best organized electronic-resources page at your library’s website can be a bear to navigate, and even a little expert advice can save you hours of searching.
如果你在写研究性论文或是发觉你所使用的一堆信息中没有一个直击主题“要害”，速度去找教授或者你所在的学科的教研图书馆馆员。甚至图书馆网页上有条有理的电子信息资源页面都可以充当指南针。哪怕是一条简单的专家建议都可能省掉你几小时的搜索工作。
Triage your courses.
“分诊”学科
One of the keys to efficient studying is being strategic in budgeting the time spent on each course. Many students divide their time equally among all their courses, or spend more time on the courses they enjoy or are doing better at. But a more productive approach is to spend more time on the courses that require more time – either because they are harder or are in your major. Conversely, you should try to limit the time spent on easier courses — or ones where your grade is no longer really in doubt (something that comes up often in schools that don’t have pluses and minuses).
高效学习中关键的一条就是有策略的规划每个科目的学习时间。许多学生为每个科目分配等量的时间，甚至在他们自己喜欢或擅长的科目花费更多的时间。但是更高效的方法是给费时的科目更多时间——或是因为这些科目更难、或是因为这些是你的主课。反之，简单的科目就少用时间——或者是那些你已经无疑能拿高分的学科（特别是当你所就读的大学成绩制度中没有“+”和“-”）。
Know when you’re done.
当止则止
Sometimes, it’s important to decide to stop studying – or stop revising a paper – when one has reached a good (though not perhaps 100-percent) perfect level of mastery. Just as in painting, the good artist knows when it’s time to put the brush down, so too the efficient student knows when writing and/or studying have to come to an end.
有时候，该停下的时候就要停下——停止修正文章——当已经达到炉火纯青的优秀地步（即使不是百分百的好）。就如同画图，好的艺术家知道何时停笔，高效的学生知道如何避免画蛇添足。
Guard your health.
健康莫忽视
No one can work efficiently when they’re dead tired, partied out, or sick as a dog. And, if you’re not careful at the end of the semester, you’ll wind up at least one (or two or three) of these. The greatest time-saver is to work focused and wide awake. Keep this in mind when it’s two in the morning, you’re on your third Red Bull, and you think you still have fifty pages to read.
没人能在累得要死、聚会宿醉、或是病怏怏的时候还能亢奋的高效学习。何况，一不小心，上述种种情况就会在期末频繁上演。最有效的节省时间方法就是清醒专注。凌晨两点，第三罐提神饮料，记得还有五十几页文字等着你去读。
