h) 从人的外貌来看，外貌可以体现一个社会的很多问题。比如：阿拉伯国家的女人不能露脸，说明这些社会的女人地位高; 法国人穿着随便休闲，说明他们很浪漫。另外，外貌还能体现一个社会的变化，比如：几十年前在中国穿衣服都很差不多而且很传统，说明那时候的人想法很偏传统conventional而且不敢表达自己的追求与个性，但现在这种想法已经消失了，服装很多样。说明现在的中国社会比较tolerance
i) 个人的兴趣与社会的取向不一定相同。个别人行为十分hostile不代表这个社会的主流都是对外国人很hostile，其实结果刚好相反。在独裁autocratic社会里可能个人的兴趣之类与社会一致性好，但是在民主社会里差别就会很大。比如美国包容了许多国家的文化，但看其中任何一个都不是美国主流的文化。而且我们不得不承认有时“我们的眼睛会欺骗我们”

k) 有时英雄可以反映社会的倾向。如：甘地Gandhi nonviolence & noncooperation 对印度摆脱殖民统治，和统一的热望，Martin Luther King对取消种族歧视的追求，其实反应了黑人美国社会对种族歧视的反抗。妇女运动的领袖被视为女性的英雄，表达了对女性解放的要求
l) When we make moral evaluations of the heroes, we often focus on a single dimension of their character. For our evaluation of the famous are often not meant to be thorough moral profiles but teaching tools. We tend to single out the traits we want to simulate. 所以只从英雄看社会是片面的，不能全面反应这个社会的特征。如：比如Cleveland总统confess to having an illegitimate child
m) 了解社会特征还有许多方法，不一定这种最好。如：从宗教方面，比如基督教国家就与Islamic国家不同，前者多信奉基督教Jesus而后者多数甚至全部信认为Mohammed是最后的prophet of God，习俗方面，中国的新年和西方的圣诞节。
