① 活用顺序连接词
流程图作文，顾名思义，就是要说明一个既定过程当中的步骤，也由此势必要交代清楚每一个步骤的前后顺序。为了让叙述表达的很清晰，大家可以参考这些词语，比如：用“process”或 “procedure”来表示过程，用“stage”或“step”来表示过程中的每一个阶段。“In the first place”、“To begin with”、“In the first stage”等可以在首个步骤描述中使用。当描述中间的步骤时，可以使用“After this/that”、“Then”、“Next”等，“Finally”或“Lastly”则用于过程的末尾描述。除此之外，假如在过程中遇到有平行的一些步骤时，我们可以使用“At the same time”、“Meanwhile”等来连接。
如果考生觉得单是词汇上的使用比较单调，那也可以使用从句将过程巧妙的衔接起来。
例如：When the cleaning is done, the bottles are conveyed to a glass factory where they are cut into glass pieces which are then poured into a furnace.
上面的句子用了when/where/which三个连词，就把玻璃瓶回收的三个步骤”cleaning- cutting –heating巧妙地连接在了一起。
② 多用被动语态
因为流程图表现的是客观的工作流程或事物发展的过程。，所以多用被动语态是写好流程图第二个要点。考生们尽量避免用“We should/must/need to do sth.”的主动语态，而改为“Sth. Should/must/needs to be done”这样的被动语态。被动语态和情态动词的联合使用，会增强文章的客观性和学术性。
例如：The production of cement starts in a mixer, where limestone gravel and sand are converted into a mixture, which is then fed into a crusher. Here the mixture is ground into cement powder, and then is passed through a rotating heater.
上文中用到了convert、feed、grind、pass这四个动词的过去分词构造了被动语态，使过程的描写显得非常专业。
③ 重视引言和末尾段
把握住在引言和末尾段写作时恰当的过程划分与总结，会使文章整体上升一个层次。
例如：This diagram illustrates the recycling process of glass bottles. The whole process is a cycle which can be divided into three main stages.
In summary, plants, humans and animals provide services for each other. Humans and animals need the oxygen that plants produce in order to stay alive. When humans and animals breathe out, they provide the carbon dioxide that plants need in order to survive.
④ 换个方式表达专业词汇
许多考生之所以觉得流程图难，往往就是由于在其写作中经常会要表达一些比较生僻专业的概念，与其在那里苦思冥想无果还不如使用自己已经掌握的词汇来表达这些比较专业的概念。
例如：遇上表达“房间通风”（ventilation）时，也可以使用“air moving through the house”来阐述；忘记“斧头”和“锯子”（axe and saw）如何表示时，就用“special tools”来代替。固然不如准确的词语，但也强过不写或写错。
