难易程度:★★★★★
题目题材:保健
gre argument 59题目:
The following appeared in an article in the health section of a newspaper.
"According to the available medical records, the six worst worldwide flu epidemics(2) during the past 300 years occurred in 1729, 1830, 1918, 1957, 1968, and 1977. These were all years with heavy sunspot activity(3)—that is, years when the Earth received significantly more solar energy than in normal years(1). People at particular risk for the flu should therefore avoid prolonged exposure to the Sun(4,5,6)."
提纲:
(1)The writer provides no direct evidence to prove that it is the solar energy that resulted in the flu epidemics.
(2)The writer fails to inform us about the severity of the disease in years when sunspot activities were less heavy.
(3)Granted that heavy sunspot activity did result in the flu epidemics, exposure to the Sun in normal years may not have the same effect.
(4)Exposure to the sun may have some positive effects for human health, thus we could not hastily conclude that people should avoid it.
(5)Suffering from flu might be a result caused by multiple factors, thus adopting the writer’s suggestion alone may not prevent flu sufficiently.
(6)Other methods could also be used to prevent flu.
