中国和英国的教育体制不同，不能简单的按照学制照搬。英国小学一共六年。英国中学一共五年，不区分初中和高中。英国大学本科一共三年，比国内少一年。那么，在中学五年级之后，大学之前的A－LEVEL课程到底是什么呢？
一、 中国高中课程只有十门左右,A－LEVEL有100多门课程，但每个学生一般只选修三门,英国中五学生不经过A-LEVEL或类似课程是不能上大学的。
二、 英国大学本科一般只有三年，其中许多基础课知识是放在A－LEVEL里。课本深度远超过中国的高三。
三、 英国中小学校叫"SCHOOL"，A－LEVEL一般在"COLLEGE"（学院）教授。
四、 根据我们对已送出国的大量中学生情况的了解，未经过A－LEVEL或其他类似课程的学习的中国中学生，在大学本科学习有较大困难。
